warning: implied manipulation, unhealthy relationship,
wedding as metaphor
AU: soul-bonded
"What the hell is all of this?" He knows what's going on, though that doesn't stop him from voicing it out in disbelief.
"It's a wedding, of course. Of you and
me." That explains and also not. It's not the first time he heard about it
and yet it remains strange. Still, a strange way to describe
this thing currently going on.
"You're not mistaking it for some kind of wack ritual,
aren't you? Why would this thing require a wedding of all
thing to get it to work properly?" The man simply looked off in mild
annoyance.
"Ask Ladan about that instead. Or
whoever wrote the ancient text that came with it that clearly states it needs
a 'pure human soul as a balancing force'. Moreover, it says that
said human needs to 'be eternally bonded to the king of the castle'.
What's that if not a wedding?" Who the hell decided on
that anyways? All these ancient Horrors sure have weird hobbies. Makes sense
for this accursed castle to choose this bastard as it's king.
"And 'pure human soul' somehow
translates to me?" Sure, he's Garo and all
but he's hardly the nicest person ever existed. If anything,
he's quite regular. He’s not some messianic figure.
The man turns his way with a measuring look to which he met
halfway with a raised eyebrow.
"Well, Garo is technically the
personification of light and hope."
"But you know I am not just that."
The other man knows first-hand that he's really nowhere near as pure as
that.
"Of course." Then unless there are some
weird ass criteria that he somehow fits, none of this makes much sense to him.
"But you know--" Ryuga glances towards the other
man as the sentence falls into a pause. "Within all these negativities and
what you keep inside yourself, you're hardly affected by them. Not to mention
you can freely use that power without any kind of apparent side effects."
Those words caught him. It's true, and he
couldn't deny it even if he wants to.
(The first time he used it Rian even specifically requested
Ryume-sama to give him a thorough check, just in case.
There was really nothing at all.)
"Looks like you finally got it."
"Shut it." He just had to hear that from this man
of all people. Can't his life get any stranger than this?
A soft snicker replies and an arm slides around his waist.
"Then I take it you don't have any more questions about
this arrangement?" A tug diminished their distance. The sudden proximity
forced him to tilt his head upwards to meet the other man's eyes.
"Doesn't mean I accept it." Even if he did agree
to it in exchange of keeping a balance between them and the humans, though he
can hardly trust what comes out of this man. Regardless, he just needs to cut
him down when the time calls for it.
("But then you'll--!"
"..Better than keeping him around.")
Another pause follows yet the man's eyes never left
him; observing. A shift, a slow growing smirk follows and an odd
light enters those dark eyes.
"You look quite pretty like
this."
"I am not your moon."
"No, you're not. If anything, it feels more like I've
caught the sun."
