Winds howling just outside the window with thunders rolling in the distance. It's been raining for quite a few days now, with brief rests in between. The sky is grey even in the midday. And the Horrors are a lot more active these days thanks to the gloomy weather.

When he woke up, he was greeted by the sight of light grey walls and translucent white curtain fluttering in the early morning breeze. He woke up sluggish, body heavy with a kind of fatigue that he couldn't explain, felt like sinking into the bed. Looking around - Where is this? - he doesn't know. It's unfamiliar. Why is he here?

Waking up before the crack of dawn and clocked in before the sun fully rises beyond the eastern horizon - that's how his days had always been, minus the occasional night shifts in between. By the time he got to his workplace, it's already bustling with people from far and near. Such is a normal thing in a major state hospital like this one. And as such, the ward is always filled to the brim.

It's a bright sunny day with birds out and about and flowers blooming in the garden. And the first thing in the morning is being summoned to their CEO's office room. If there is one good thing about it is, so far, they have never been called for anything negative; it's usually either discussions of new projects, or simple congratulations. Doesn't make it any easier, though.

A soft click broke the momentary silence. The air inside the room is somewhat stale from being enclosed for quite some time. There's a faint but noticeable smell of old blood in the air mixed with other bodily fluids spattered across the walls and floor. He returns to his chair next to a small table with a nondescript digital camera in hand, busying himself with the footage recorded in it. A low, almost pleased humming escaped him.

Justice was merely a word, a glorified ideal to mask the greed that was the real core of the conflict. For every time a war starts, another tried to end it. But at the end of the day, it never stops. Someway, somehow, a war will break out again. And then the cycle will simply repeat itself.

The man had gone back to sleep not long after, fatigue still apparent from how he sounded throughout his story. Nevertheless, he chose to spill all of it out, and perhaps gained some relief from it.

The next moment he heard a yelp coming from Needle and suddenly he's already face down on the floor, tackled by an invisible enemy. The sound of wild wolves howling can be heard from afar. Under the moonlit sky stood a lone man dressed in long black coat. Smoke from his cigarette envelopes him, forming a wispy barrier.

Wind blows, birds scatter in the sky. Something is at unrest. Gai looked off skyward sensing a strange vibe in the air.

It's been well over a week since he got to the Northern Church (by pure accident, technically). His condition has improved by a great margin since then too and he's finally back in his optimal condition, or as optimal he can get in current situation. The buzzing under his skin remains, so did the mental link. But at the very least he's in control of himself again.

Angels and demons; the two names that anyone is this field would be highly familiar with. However, to what extent would be debatable. Most of the priest - hunters and non-hunters alike - are mostly only familiar with the concepts that were derived from ancient texts and tales, but none really know off, or ever encountered the real beings.

Sleep came easily enough for him that night, exhaustion from his apparent escape still weighing his system down. Strangely enough, the nigh constant buzzing under his skin is thankfully absent, as is with the heat build-up.

He doesn't know how long had he been idly standing in the same spot since he returned. The flow of time never really registers to him, never felt significant. He was out on his usual business, leaving the little priest alone, unwatched. In his defence, the priest was unconscious. Then he came back and the room is empty.

Lately, a strange air floats around the place. Even here where the number of cases is much more manageable compared to other regions; they still couldn't escape the effects.

When he came to, the first thing he see is the ornate white ceiling of the medical ward. His entire body feels heavy and his mind is still hazy from sleep. His first thought when he realizes his whereabouts was 'Ah, here again'. Dull pain coming from his left hand had him turning to that side; there's an IV drip connected to a bag of fluid. For a moment he stared at the steady drip of the fluid inside the small chamber.

Sun sets for the day marking the start of their nightly shift and duties. There are more active Hunters tonight compared to usual. The air inside the church is heavy with tension lining each space and corners of the place. It's like they're preparing for a war.

The early morning air is calm and cool. Streaks of golden began to bleed into the sky from the eastern edge. The day is just beginning yet here he is, in the garden behind the dormitory, training as usual. It's more of a habit now rather than something he needed to do. Better to practice, there's still much that could be improved after all. His morning routine ended as the sun rise above the horizon.

There are two sides to everything, though some may have more. So does the world we live in. Some things are visible under the bright sunlight, while others only made themselves seen in the dark veil of the night time. Such are the creatures that they hunt down. Appearance wise they go from humanoid to downright bizarre.

The rest of the day and the day after followed in silence. Mikage (and by extension, him too) steadfastly avoided the other two members of the group, but they can only try so much.

The sunrise is creeping up in the eastern corner by the time they got out of the mirror. His strike manages to break both the space and the mirror itself, removing the negative karma attached to it. Even now, he's still not quite sure how much of what happened was real.

Something is strange lately. It wasn't enough to be said obvious, but it certainly wasn't normal. No one else seems to notice (though they're probably wilfully ignoring it). Nevertheless, the days go on as it always did here.

Here he is, alone with his thoughts. They aren't weighing his mind anymore like how it used to; still from time to time he needed the escape. How long has it been? It felt like ages ago. Unknowingly time had passed in between them.

He woke up to dim, warm light and someone's soft breathing. As usual he couldn't really tell the time in here, it could've been midday and he wouldn't know. As if time itself cease to exist.

The days pass by as it always does, barely much have happened beyond the normal stuffs. Unknowingly, they had fallen into a pattern of routine. Now, he's sitting nearby, silently observing Toma as he trains together with Ryuga.

Time passes by unnoticed whenever she's working, tinkering away on her equipment, or spent going through age old documents. Familiar voices talking a steady presence in the background, making her feel at home. The two brothers stuck in their little competition, again; occasionally joined by a third voice, clearly amused by their antics.

He wakes up from a formless dream. His surrounding is still fairly dark as this place doesn't really have any windows to allow natural light to come in. It's not much of an issue though it does mess up with his day and night perception. A slight weight prompted him to look downward, finding a familiar grey long coat draped over him.

By the time he woke up, the other half of the bed is unoccupied and residual heat has long gone cold. He sat there unmoved for quite some time, trying to piece together disjointed memories from last night.

They had dutifully avoided going to the office the few days following the incident, opting instead to meet up at each other’s abode (mostly alternating between Rian's and Aguri's, for reasons).

It was quite late in the day when Ryuga suddenly approaches him. Earlier they had another meeting regarding their unofficial mission. Nothing much was discussed then; simply going over their mission plan and making final adjustments.

Morning comes earlier than he had expected - an urgent call had come in in the early hours of the day. It struck him as strange at first, it's rare for his unit to have more than one cases in a row considering his unit only handles special cases. He stepped into the office that morning and was greeted by the rare sight of his teammates already in with high alert.

The end of the case felt much like the passing of a great storm; everyone involved were left feeling exhausted after the roller-coaster that was the serial murder case. After successfully wrapping it up last week, the following days have been a row of legal procedures. Right before the court meeting, the full autopsy report came in and with that the truth about the crime was also put to light.

The ensuing events happened in a fairly quick succession. But thanks to the hidden cameras, they managed to catch everything. The suspect is undeniably stealthy and smooth. It's no wonder that normal people would miss the little things he does when their eyes weren't on him.

It is a quiet night, slightly chilly after a late afternoon rain. The neighbourhood is calm and somewhat removed from the noise of the city. The people living here prefer to mind their own business rather than mingle around. Situated some distance away from the city center but not completely traditional either. Just somewhere in the middle.

Within the next few days, they managed to break down the suspect's pattern of movement as well as his most possible modus operandi. Besides, from the various datas obtained, and after analysing his track, they succeeded in narrowing down his next potential hunting grounds.

Chapter 6

The clock is nearing midnight but the city is still far from sleep time. Every corner, every block are bustling with people looking to release the stress of working. The brightly lit streets offer almost no cover, not even for little critters to roam in the hidden corners of the buildings. Almost. He's not as good at putting on a disguise, but it is not necessary whenever you need to conceal yourself. With this many people around it's not that difficult to hide in plain sight. But his training was more than just that.

Chapter 5

After over a week being kept out of action, finally he is able to return. He had been discharged a few days earlier after completing his treatment course and some examinations, but were made to stay at home until they deem him fit for duty. The traces of that day have more or less disappeared. His body no longer feels like it is threatening to crumble away in exhaustion. He's back at 100%.

He woke up feeling sluggish but comfortable. The white of the ceiling, soft beeping, and the faint smell of disinfectant is enough to tell him of his current whereabouts.

He floated in and out of consciousness, thanks to his injuries and overall fatigue. There's probably not much damage but coupled with the distress over his current predicament, it certainly doesn't help much with relaxing.

In his hazy state, he vaguely registers rustling sounds, hushed voices and the pressure around his wrists disappearing.

It was one brief moment when our eyes met with our guns locked onto each other.

It was the first time they had ever encountered each other. A fated meeting, one could say. The start of everything.

Chapter 1

He was forcefully ripped out of his unconsciousness with a splash of cold water. A headache shoots through his skull with the harsh wakening. Squinting his eyes through the pain and the bright light, he slowly makes out his surroundings. Drab, grey walls with suspicious looking stains. It's a small room, though it appears to be more of a holding cell. The room itself is unadorned safe for a single lamp hanging from the ceiling, and a chair set in front of him, which is currently occupied by someone.

i'm back after a literal journey through the decade

so an abridged history; finished secondary school, finished univ, got a degree, started my first job, and quitted after about a year. currently jobless and is feeling quite lost in life

yeah. shits happens

i also came to know that i am most likely adhd/autistic at the age of 26. but that's no biggie

still stuck in toku fandom though as observed from the blog cover above, i have made residence in the Garo corner. and got myself stuck with the most problematic ship
